Quick Note This glitch is for Diamond & Pearl but not Platinum. Also, before you start this glitch, you need to have used the Explorer Kit at least once. It's also a good idea to go downstairs in the Pokemon Center and collect your Pal Pad.
What to Have- Bicycle
- Poketch Map
- Poketch Step Counter
- Pokeballs of Choice
- Escape Rope/Dig (optional)
- Teleport (optional)
STEP #1: TWEAKING
Follow the video below to enter the Void. Save your game in Jubilife before you start tweaking so that you can be ready to try again in case you mess up.
• If your game freezes-up while tweaking, turn the DS off&on and try again. • If you create a black area (abyss) but can't enter into it like in this video, you can cross over the vertical blue line in the video to undo the abyss, and try again.
STEP #2: THE VOID
After you've gotten into the Void, you can follow the video below. However, this video is a bit outdated and has some errors which I will outline further down.
• Whenever instructed to use the Explorer Kit, simply open the Menu and save normally. Then turn the DS off&on, and continue the rest of the Guide.
• When instructed to go North another 65,500 Steps from Newmoon Island, you should appear directly on Newmoon Island again. Unlike the video, there is no need to turn, just go straight up all the way.
I'll update this guide with more precise steps in a bit, just putting this out here for the time being.

Frequently Asked Questions
- While I was riding the 65,000 steps both my screens went black, what do I do?
Answer: Press "Start" then "A". You should enter one of your menu options - such as Pokedex/Bag/Pokemon - then press "B". The graphics should be back to normal.
If when you press Start then A, you don't enter a menu option then you're probably Saving Your Game. That's not a good idea. So press B, then Up, then A -- and see if that gets you in one of your menu screens. Then exit the screen and see if that fixes it.
- Is this Glitch 100% Safe? If not, what are the odds?
Answer: This glitch is not 100% safe. It is recommended you use a game you're willing to risk losing, as the final Save of the guide can lead to a permanently frozen game, forcing you to restart. However, there is an extra precaution you can take.
At the final step, when you've arrived at Newmoon Island, right before saving, open your menu, enter a menu category -- like Pokemon/Pokedex/Items -- then exit. Your screens will be black. Now, if your game has frozen, then there was a high chance your file might have not survived the glitch if you had saved first.
In such a situation, you can then turn your game off&on again, and you should be back in the Jubilife savepoint at 430 steps North. Go down a few steps and you'll be in Turnback Cave. Use an escape rope and you'll exit the Void.
If your screens do not freeze when you come out of the Items/Pokedex/Etc, then there's it's almost guaranteed your game won't glitch when you save. Go ahead and save, then reboot the DS.
- Does this glitch work in any country?
Answer: Yes. It works on a Diamond & Pearl in any language/country.
- While I was riding up the 430 Steps North, my game froze, what do I do?
Answer: Well first, turn the DS off&on again. Exit the Void. Then use the Explorer Kit somewhere (doesn't matter where) then afterward enter the Void again and continue as normal.

Hi Kiwy. Have you visited the Underground area at least once using the Explorer Kit?

No, don't use the Kit in the void. If you need to save, open something in the menu first (Pokedex etc.) then save from it.
If you've already been Underground I'm not sure why it freezes there..

You were absolutly right! I exited the void and went down the underground and I have never enter before (wich is odd because I recall entering D:) anyway thanks a lot!

hi, thanks for the guide. i have a few questions. when im going for darkrai, going north the 65,000 steps, i start to run into walls at about 40,000 steps. is that normal? the walls can usually be cleared by going 1 step east/west, then continuing on north. and sometimes, both my screens go black. i think it is because i walk into a building. i can open my menu, (i hear the sound) but when i press my bag or pokedex, the game locks up and i have to do a soft reset. and when i do get to the second newmoon island, where you save and reset and the game, i always do a bsod test. upon clicking into my bag, the game locks up and i have to do a soft reset. so im not sure if it is entirely safe to save. is it safe? thanks in advance, pepsi

There's no sense of "normal" in the void when it comes to random stuff like that. If you can get around it, just do so. If opening your bag freezes your game, don't do it. If this blackout is the same one I get, just continue going north and it should go back to normal eventually. If not, too bad. You're welcome, asshole.

alright, thanks.
and would you have anything to say about the bsod test on the second newmoon island? i click into my bag, and before the actual 'bag' comes up, it stays black and the last note played is repeated until i turn the ds off.
have you ever done a bsod test on the second newmoon island?

I've never had to use the BSoD test, but all of my saves have been successful. You should wait for someone else to come here and answer your question. But my understanding is that if the BSoD test fails, your save will fail.

How much have you progressed in your game? Try doing things to change the value of flags, such as earning badges or getting key items. Almost any one-time event will do.
After setting some flags, go back to the 2nd Newmoon and try the BSoD test again. Depending on the flags set, some games will have the area saveable and some won't.
If you can't find any other flags to set and the BSoD test still fails, bad luck. Chances are you've progressed too far and the area is permanently unsaveable in your game.

Which is why it's important to do this as early in the game as possible. Honestly, if possible use a game that is only for this purpose and is as early as 2 badges. I found it happens a lot with that thing that makes your screens go black when you're headed north as well.

If it still doesn't work after setting a load of flags, try going to another FS and BSoD testing there. On a side note, you can go too far through the game? My game's like 800 hours and probably pretty close to 100%, but I can still do VE stuff

Yes, or even picking up items off the ground can do it. Just do a load of stuff and try again

Hey, the void doesn't even appear in my game. What do I do? So far, when I've tried, my game froze 5 times, all of which the void didn't appear.

Keep trying, if your game is freezing, you're close. Also, you might consider trying an easier pattern, such as the slowbike pattern.

Hello guys, I recently tried the Darkrai glitch, everything worked fine and I also came to the second Newmoon/Fullmoon Island, where Darkrai is... on the way my both screens got black and I did as here is written already (open pokedex and close again, then screen works again).. <- too bad I didnt find this tip here earlier, I had to find out myself how to fix that screen bug :S Anyways nvm that, after I came to the second Island as town place, where it should be possible to safe and then go to darkrai, I opened my menu and saw that I COULDNT SAVE ANYMORE. I probably entered the 'Friend Park' on the way there.. I tried already twice! After around 47.ooo steps my character entered the Fun Park.. I could read the countdown .. three..two..one.. and well, there was no spot to click on 'save' .. nothing! Just the menu where I could see that I got 6 Friend Balls like in the Friend/Fun Park or how its called.. so can anyone help me? how do I prevent this?

Try detouring 1000 steps around the affected area, and check that NMI is safe when you get there

you mean when im at that 47.000'th step - go 1000 steps east or west, and then continue north? This also would be my thought, which could maybe work.. going "around" the fun park, if it could work..
cuz after I entered it, theres no way in getting out anymore.
What do you mean with NMI?

That Happened to me the first time I tried It is probably the fact that you went north from the wrong spot on newmoon island i suggest going north from the westmost part of fullmoon island it always works for me.

Alright,so i started this and I was on my diamond version, and when i reached newmoon isle the second time,it was still mystery zone..Why?I perfomed everything right and exactly as said in the video but newmoon isle wasnt jublife,so i couldn't use the kit.I paniced because i had a arceus but i was able to leave the void by doing the kit at fullmoon isle which was jublife. Is this because i was unlucky?Or maybe something reseted itself?I'm completely lost atm and I tried it again and i ended up losing my file because while book was holding down the button my cousin got ahold of of my game and screwed everything up.Looking for turnback cave to transfer my arceus.I'm also not sure if finding turnback cave after getting lost and saving a couple of times...Help please
